The recently refurbished Town House, located in The Kensington Hotel, is an all-day dining establishment that has been designed to embody a mix of traditional and modern components. The restaurant is welcoming, homely and oozes sophistication, creating a living/dining room feel.
Starting our evening with a glass of Prosecco in the adjoining K Bar, we moved over to the restaurant, where we started with Severn and Wye smoked salmon with avocado and Wye Valley asparagus with poached Hens egg and brown shrimps. Both starters were delicious, but the asparagus won us over in terms of it being more creative with its flavours and composition.
I went with the lobster spaghetti with Americane sauce for my main, which was divine! The portion was very generous and definitely not stingy with the lobster pieces. The flavours blended together very well and it wasn’t too fishy or bland. A splendid dish in my opinion.
Should you opt for a lighter dessert, we’d recommend the mixed berries with Champagne Sabayon and lemon sorbet. The Champagne Sabayon was foamy and sweet to the taste, but with the undertones of Champagne.
The menu isn’t the most imaginative and is pretty safe in my opinion, but this doesn’t take away from the flavour and freshness of the food itself. There aren’t any complaints my end about the food, as I devoured that lobster spaghetti hastily.
They also host a Beauty and the Beast inspired Afternoon Tea that features lovely little quirks like the enchanted rose, Mrs Potts teapot and the Cogsworth clock. We definitely want to go back and try this!
