Sunday brunch is always a problem for my partner and I. Last weekend we spent about an hour or so trying to find a decent place to grab something to eat. Being the foodies that we are, it’s not simplest task, because we’re always on the look out for something new and a quick bite at Pret wont suffice.
As our stomachs started to eat themselves, I quickly did a search on the old Tripadvisor to see where we could get brunch that was local to us.
We finally settled on Strut & Cluck, a Shoreditch based Middle Eastern restaurant that serves brunch at the weekends. My partner fancied Eggs Benedict, so lucky for him, they had a Mediterranean version called Benedict Balagan. The peppery twist on this dish was tasty, although I’m not sure if it was meant to be served cold, but this ruined it for me personally.
I went for the aubergine, feta and sweet potato bake, which was served hot thankfully. Also enjoyed this, more so because it wasn’t cold! All three fillings in the baked omelette contributed to a pleasing dish.
Despite the cold eggs, I would still recommend this place as a cool brunch spot with lovely interiors and equally appetising food.
Brunch is served on:
Saturday & Bank Holiday 11am – 4pm
Sunday 10.30am – 4pm
